| Sermon 398 "Do you Believe God?" January 2, 2005
"How are they brought into desolation, as
in a moment! they are utterly consumed with
terrors." (Psalm 73:19)
Notice, I said do you believe God, not do you believe in
God. The laws of the universe and nature
declare that God does exist. If
the awesome destructive power of this current
earthquake and resulting tsunami is as some
say "an act
of nature"
that's pale in
comparison to the incredible awesome power that God possesses. As the laws of the universe declare God is. Consider the stars. Also if man in all his space walks
were not tethered to the shuttle he would float out into space and be extinguished.
Space is weightless and man is required to be weighted down
while on the moon or he would
drift into the everlasting expense. There is a
God. The God
that placed the stars and planets where they are. Many are shocked
at the huge death toll from this current disaster are you? My
friends, I'll tell you what to
be afraid of and shocked over, that is the huge
death toll of those every day dying without the saving grace and redemptive work of Christ!
60,000 deaths are but a grain
of sand on the
beach that sucked thousands away on the day after, compared to the trillions a day dying the death
of deaths. Weep and mourn for the lost souls
damned to hell forever! O
sinner, hell will rise to meet you,
and consume you in your sins, you
hover over hell daily until you repent! If God, who
made heaven and earth, and is
more powerful than a thousand earthquakes requires repentance
and you don't, what will
be your end? Be terrified of the tsunami that can consume your soul.
God has declared
thousands of times to you that you are filled with sin, and yet you still reject the only saving remedy available to mankind-Jesus Christ. Why do you stand afraid of natural disasters, terrorist attacks,
wars, famine, and other kinds
of misery but are not afraid of the wrath of
the living God?
"How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they
are utterly consumed with terrors." (Psalm 73:19)
The chains of
sin encompass you, you believe not because you need not. God
stretches his hands out to you
daily, and you slapped them away? In such a manner do you
think you will be accepted in
that day? You go the way
of others; you believe foolishness and lies and are not
in terror of the Lord. You cannot see
the stains of sin, you cannot
comprehend your blackness of heart, the almighty declares "there is no
one good no not one." All are filthy in your
present state you are corrupt and stink to God more
than the millions of dead bodies.
You are so vital compared to our Holy God that
nothing less than the sufferings of hell can be good
enough for you. The sufferings of eternal damnation that await those unrepentant are so horrible words cannot adequately describe it. If the Holy Scriptures say there is joy
in heaven over one sinner that repents, do you not think that
hell and its occupants scream to
get out? Nothing
on this earth can be compared to the misery, hopelessness, pain, and despair that awaits those that go there. The screams of the damned will
be heard through the universe, not so much for
the pain and agony, but the utter despair for an exit from such
a place.
Without God and
the saving grace He mercifully bestows, such is the experience
and state that
awaits those whose rejection of Him seals their fate. Repent,
repent! Before it's too late, what time
will you have when the flames of hell suck you down? The children of God will be taken to
his side in the "twinkling of an eye"
your descent into the fiery abyss will be no less
quick.
As Achen and his
family were swallowed in a blink whole into the portals of hell, so
too will you for the innumerable
evils you have treasured in your life. There is a time coming, friends, when God's mercy doors will be shut
forever. Do not think that it will
extend for all time, I tell you it will
not, "and the doors were shut and they cried Lord, Lord open to us and
He said away I never knew you." Be not deceived that time is on its way.
O Earth, Earth
tremble at the power of our
God fall at his feet beg for his eternal mercy that only He can give.
I have declared the truth to you, I pray that it will affect your heart, and you would repent! Amen.
